Dear Friends and Students of Ripa Ladrang,
Each year as a New Year approaches, Tibetan families around the world undertake a period of thorough cleaning, decorating and repairing their homes in anticipation of the upcoming Tibetan New Year and Losar celebration. They also decorate with fragrant flowers and the walls in their homes are often painted with auspicious signs such as the sun, moon and stars. We are now at that point in the lunar cycle as we approach the beginning of a Tibetan New Year, the year of the Water Tiger, 2149. The Ripa Ladrang Foundation intends to clean, paint and repair our spiritual home – the Rigon Tashi Choeling Monastery in Parphing, Nepal.

In 2015, when a large earthquake hit Nepal, it resulted in significant damage to our monastery. We rallied and raised funds to repair the cracked walls and pavement, to repaint walls and murals and ready the monastery for the Gongter Teachings which were held in the fall of that year.  Now, we are at a point where we need to focus on additional repairs to the monastery structure where our teachers and monks perform rituals and support the world at large through their teachings, practices and pujas.

One of our members has kindly offered to match donations up to $15,000 in funds received to support the repair of the Nepal monastery.  For every $50 you donate, it will be doubled to $100.  Our goal is to double this generous donation of $15,000 to $30,000, which will go far in completing these necessary repairs to sustain the monastery we so dearly revere.

Let us make this year, the Year of the Water Tiger 2149, the year of renewal and repair within our spiritual home.
