This evidence-based training was developed at the request of the Dalai Lama after a Mind and Life Institute meeting on “Destructive Emotions” led by renowned emotion psychologist Paul Ekman and eminent Buddhist scholar, writer, and teacher B. Alan Wallace.

The secular curriculum for this workshop was designed to bring participants a rich and in-depth understanding of their own emotional lives and guide them towards their overarching goals of a meaningful life. It draws from Western and Eastern contemplative-informed skills delivered through lectures, small group workshops, and guided instruction for personal reflection and direct experience.

Alan Wallace, Ph.D in Religious Studies, scientist, Tibetan translator and author of numerous books. He is also a fully trained Buddhist monk, ordained by His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Alan is constantly searching for new ways to integrate Buddhist contemplative practices with western scientific methods.

Eve Ekman is a stress, emotion, and empathy postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, San Francisco’s Osher Center of Integrative Medicine. The daughter of Paul Ekman, a pioneering founder of the field of emotion research, Eve is an internationally sought-after trainer of emotion regulation and mindfulness skills.
