Death is not considered as the end of life\, but merely as the passing away of the body that we inhabit. Our mind-stream will remain\, and our habitual tendency of yearning and attachment usually leads us to seek a new body\, a new life. How this next life will be and what form it will take is determined by the actions of past lives. \nProvided that we have become acquainted with the true nature of our mind through meditative practice\, the moment of death is a great opportunity to recognize and merge with our inherent clear light – our Buddha nature – and in this time we can become free from the wheel of cyclic existence (birth\, aging\, dying and rebirth). \nDungsey Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche is a traditional Tibetan Buddhist meditation and philosophy teacher of the Kagyu and Nyngma lineages. Born in India in October 1970\, he is the successor to the spiritual lineage of the Ripa family\, a lineage of reincarnated lamas since the 17th century from eastern Tibet. He is the leader of the monasteries of the Ripa lineage in India and Nepal. He is also the spiritual leader of a Tibetan community living in exile in Orissa\, India. \nSince 1996\, Gyetrul Jigme Rinpoche has been touring Asia\, Europe\, and the USA on a regular basis. There he lectures and gives seminars for a lay audience on various topics such as “Meditation for the modern world\,” “Eastern wisdom in the world today\,” “Goodness and creativity\,” “Authentic presence for executives\,” and so on. Jigme Rinpoche was recognized by the extraordinary Dudjom Rinpoche\, as the emanation of Pema Lingpa Tertön\, one of the five main discoverers of teaching-treasure left by Guru Padmasambhava. In his previous life he was in charge of the monastery of Orgyen Mindroling in sacred land of Pemako. \nAlong with his father and brother\, he is spiritual director of Ripa International\, whose headquarters are in Switzerland\, with offices in several countries in Europe and North America. Thubten Mindrolling monastery\, located in Orissa\, India\, is a center of traditional training in different areas of philosophy\, art\, astrology\, medicine and a retreat center. He was recognized as the reincarnation of Jigme Tempay Gyeltsen\, the 3rd Tamdrin Lhunpo Chogtrul. \nIn conjunction with his recognition\, he was enthroned at Namdroling monastery in Mysore amidst an ocean of lamas\, tulkus and monks presided over by Kyabje Drupwang Penor Rimpoche\, who bestowed upon him the name Gyurme Thegchog Shedrub Tnpay Gyeltsen. At Ngagyur Nyingma College\, Mysore\, he completed the study and contemplation of sutra\, tantra\, and general liberal arts topics\, and completed the full nine-year program. In the manner of a vessel filled to overflowing\, from Kyabje Dilgo Kyentse Rinpoche\, Kalu Rinpoche\, and Kyabje Penor Rinpoche he received a sacred stream of initiations\, scriptural transmissions\, and instructions\, consisting primarily of the Great Precious Treasury of Terma (Rinchen Terdzo) and from his father he received the teachings cycle of Taksham and the Gesar mind treasures. \nHe is widely renowned for the beneficial power of his ritual presence in the many great accomplishment and offering accomplishment rites performed annually at Rigon Thbten Mindroling\, the beneficial power of his command in rites for the well-being of settlement members\, and the like\, and also for the beneficial power of his blessing on behalf of the infirmed.
